Winding Down

Hello folks.  There haven't been many updates lately, mostly because I haven't had much to say or think on the subject of competition, psychology, growth, etc.  I normally create posts by thinking about things I read, but lately my reading's been fictional or non-fiction on other topics.

The other part is that this month is Evo 2013!  And after the SSBM event of Evo, I'm not going to be competing and participating in tournaments anymore.  So I'm not going to be doing much thinking about competition, and that means very little (if any) writing on the subject.  And if I'm not writing, that more or less means that there won't be blog updates.

I'm glad you all took the time to read what I wrote.  I also hope it was helpful, informative, or at the very least, a little bit interesting.

There will be one update next week (promise!) before I head to Evo, and then a post-Evo update with my thoughts on... everything, I guess.  That one might take more than a few days to write.  After that, I doubt there will be any more updates.

It's been a fun exercise.  I'll see you all next week!

  1. Wow.. I´m surprised nobody comments here.

Your blog is amazing! I´ve just read a few of your recent entries and - as a competitive player myself - I must say your thoughts are inspiring. Some of the things you adress I´ve thought about myself but I´m blown away by the extent to which you can bring contemplation about competitive mindset.

Shame you´re gonna stop posting and I really hope you´re not serious about leaving the competitive scene! I honestly regard you as one of the most interesting smash players and my favorite commentator. =)

  3. R.I.P. One of the best melee players to watch. Such a strong showing today. Can't retire much better. Sad you couldn't close out GFs though.

  4. Rob,
Thank you so much for doing all this. I have learned so much not only from your blogs, but you commentary inspired me to learn more about an incredibly deep game. You have helped me create a new way to look at winning, losing, thinking, practicing... a new way to look at living my life. It has been cool to see you develop from 'watch out! angry wobbles' to who you are today.

And thanks for letting those that follow you in on it.

I was yelling in my house at every one of your matches today. This is what I wanted from EVO2013
