  1. Good sportmanship, respect, being a good loser, something like that mixed with ambition to become better/the best.

  2. The mentality that they are the best, and that they are not afraid of any opponent and welcome any challenge. A player that is so confident in their abilities and skills that they are borderline cocky without crossing that fine line of good taste for their spectators and fans. When they lose, they accept it with humility, and when they win, its not a big deal. Just what is expected of them.

  3. Separating their personal feelings of you and your choice of character, stage, moves, etc. from the competition. Setting the moment of competition in a realm apart from those feelings, and using that other realm to discuss what's going on, why you picked what you did, whether or not you hate them for going Link for the 100-billionth time.

  8. Never giving up despite how bleak the outcome looks.

I am so tired of watching players throw in the towel when they are at an extreme disadvantage because of opponents making good decisions during a match. If you do not try, you do not know if you could manage to make that come back, stranger things have happened.

It shows integrity, determination, and absolute faith in you have the ability to make the impossible possible. Until you are fully defeated, you give your opponent hell and let them know that the match is not over until it is over.

  9. Determination, followed by success.

I love when a player defeats the odds, despite all the things going against him (or her, lol). It's truly inspiring and breeds hope in an otherwise sad status quo. The documentary episode on KDJ gives a taste of what I mean, as well as many of Armada's successes at large U.S. tournaments that he won (he was younger, had worse matchups, the crowd was always against him, he had less competition / good players to learn from in Europe, etc.). aMSa is another great example.

It's refreshing to see someone rise from the sea of not-top players and really amaze people, and that's the most rewarding when that person was always looking for that success, even before they were good, and they never gave up.

  10. The ability to learn and teach.
It is so awesome seeing someone adapt and learn quickly, and it's great if they are able to pass their knowledge on to other people, and help them grow too.
People who are too self-centered and can't help other people or even the game grow make me mad, even more if they are good at the game, they don't feel like true masters, they just seem like assholes who are good.

  11. This is a characteristic in MANY players. I really admire those who have a passion to do something. That they enjoy something (perhaps a video game) and pursue to learn more about and be good at it. Even despite the negative things that come with be a "player," the player endures it.
I think being a hardworking player in itself is something to be proud of and respected.
